Podcast Review: “Love, Lust & Magick” Podcast by Gabriela Herstik
Available on all major podcasting platforms including Apple and Spotify

As the name suggests this podcast features mature content. Season 1 has just concluded and I am only 8 episodes in to this (to date) 28 episode Season; and I am absolutely loving it! The general format is an interview between Herstik and other practitioners such as Mat Auryn, Storm Faerywolf, the Stylist Witch, and Ryun Harrison. There are a few solo episodes as well, drawing on Herstik’s published works, and experience. There is as the title suggests a focus on the intersection of sexuality, sensuality, and spirituality. There is also plenty to interest practitioners without a specific interest in Sex Magic, but there is an unflinching frankness, and beautiful approach to sensuality and sex as spiritual practice.

The discussions I have listened to have been freeing, enlightening, and given a broad range approaches to witchcraft, magic, and spirituality. The podcast is LGBTQ+ friendly, in the episodes I have listened to date the discussions have mostly been with LGBTQ+ practitioners. This is a very accessible format for learning more about sex positive sex magic, and for giving a voice to marginalised people and practices. It is really refreshing to listen to others reflecting on experiences and practices that resonate so deeply with my own approach and practices. But as I said above there is plenty to interest people who don’t practice, or want to practice, sex magic. There is a brilliant “Witchcraft 101” episode (the most recently listened to episode for me) where Gabriela Herstik talks about some basic principles, definitions, and practices; based on her book “Inner Witch: A Modern Guide to the Ancient Craft” or (UK title) “Craft How to be a Modern Witch”.

There is a sense of honesty, sensitivity, and depth of knowledge on display in each episode. The topics I have listened included queering witchcraft, glamour magic, esoteric journeying, mental health, and the magic of the everyday. There is a thread of celebrating sensuality, the goddess, and sex in each episode which for me has been very affirming, and inspiring. But with this do not listen if you are uncomfortable with discussions about sex.

I am really enjoying this; it is unusual to find a podcast, or witch media that so deeply resonates with me. And for anyone with an interest in sex, the sensual, and magic this is a perfect fit. For witches deepening their craft it is definitely worth a listen, even if not all episodes speak to you. This is a podcast made by and for experienced practitioners, while still being friendly and helpful to people just starting out on a path.
